How to be a Better Birder
at the BP Energy Center – 7:00 PM
Join us on Thursday, March 21 at 7:00 pm in The BP Energy Center for our monthly meeting and of course, cookies.
The Spring Birding Season is right around the corner, and the Anchorage Audubon Society’s March program is going to be fabulous. We’ve gathered a truly phenomenal panel for our Seventh annual forum on “How to Be a Better Birder.”
Thede Tobish, Pat Pourchot, and Andrew Fisher will share their knowledge, tips, and techniques in order to help the rest of us see more birds. This is an opportunity to go to school with the big guys.
Thede, Pat, and Andrew are among Alaska’s most highly respected birders, and when the rest of us see one of them in action, we always seem to ask ourselves the same question: “How the heck did he know That?”
Thede Tobish has seen more birds in Alaska than Anyone except David Sonneborn. His “Birding by Ear” skills are nothing short of astounding.
Pat Pourchot recently added his 800th bird to his North America list. He chases birds relentlessly, and he’s a genius sleuth in the woods.
Andrew Fisher has birded from the Kougarok to the Amazon, he’s a total whiz, and is currently Anchorage Audubon’s Field Trip Chair.
Moderator W. Keys will lead the questioning with the goal of allowing us to learn more about birding in one evening than we would usually learn in a whole week! It’ll be just like getting a full scholarship to Harvard, except that the person sitting next to you is likely to have driven in from Wasilla.
The Forum will not be based on questions from the audience, but questions for our esteemed panel may be submitted in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org ? March’s meeting is on our usual third Thursday, March 21. Meet us at the BP Energy Center at 7:00 pm., and of course, there will be fabulous prizes and cookies.
March’s meeting will also feature the annual Anchorage Audubon election of Officers, so please expect a huge amount of mudslinging and dirty politics. Astounding amounts of money from Outside organizations are expected to be spent to influence the outcome of the election.
Come and join us and your birding pals for an evening.
