Bird Walk and eBird Tutorial

Keep track of birds you see, plan birding trips, and more!

Maybe you have hear of eBird but have never logged in, or maybe you are a regular eBird user and would like to meet others for this interactive tutorial.  Come to Reflections Lake off of the Glenn Highway for a short bird walk where we will collect a bird species list to enter into eBird.  We will then drive to the Palmer Library for a tutorial that will walk you though everyting from getting logged onto eBird and entering your first checklist to the finer points of how to use it as a birding tool.

Come prepated to take notes on the birds seen during the walk or with field notes from a recent birding adventure.  After this tutorial you should be well on your way in using and appreciating this great citizen science program from Cornell University!

When:  Saturday, August 13, 2016, 8:30 AM – 12:30 AM

Where:  Reflections Lake Parking Lot

red-necked-phalaropeWhat to bring: A notebook for recording the birds seen on the walk, a laptop or tablet if you have one, (if not we can share!).

Directions: If driving southbound on the Glenn Highway cross the Matanuska River and then take the Knik River Access off-ramp to the Reflections Lake parking area on your right.

If driving northbound on the Glenn Highway cross the Knik River then take the Knik River Access off-ramp, turn left and go through the tunnel under the Glenn Highway and continue straight until the road curves to the Reflections Lake Parking Lot.
