Fall Photo Sharing Party – September 19, 2019

Fall Photo Sharing Party

Thursday, September 19, 2019

It’s party season again at Anchorage Audubon, and we’d love it if you’d join us Thursday, Sept. 19,  for Anchorage Audubon’s Annual End-Of-Summer Photo Sharing Party.  Bring your favorite photos of your summer adventures and make the rest of us totally jealous.

Get together with your birding pals and share photos and tall tales.  PLEASE NOTE:  This party has traditionally been a potluck which cannot happen this year because the Energy Center has prohibited bringing outside meals into the facility.  We’ll make up for it with extra cookies.

Share your best photos with an ultimately appreciative audience.    Bring your own laptop if it makes your show better, or take a chance with ours.

Birding Hyder, in a Cadillac – W. Keys

at the BP Energy Center – 7:00 PM

It was the weirdest birding road trip ever.  Anchorage Audubon’s Commander-In-Chief, W. Keys, tagged along with 3 extremely hot shot birders for a week-long birding extravaganza in Hyder, Alaska. The town at the absolute end of the road had never seen a carload of birders arrive in a sparkling white Cadillac Sedan DeVille.  There were Lifers galore, crusty Alaskan Sourdoughs, Polite Canadians, Poutine, and more Lifers.  Hear the tale of how Keys, Thede, Gary, and Ed narrowly escaped death by electrocution, bears, wolves, and an overly friendly Brown-headed Cowbird!

We’d love to have you join us for Hyder birding secrets and a fabulous assortment of cookies.

Steve Amstrup from Polar Bears International  – Thursday, December 13, 2018

at the BP Energy Center – 7:00 PM

Our December 13th Program will be an extra-special treat.

Steve Amstrup, Chief Scientist for Polar Bears International, will be in town and will honor us with a talk on “The Current Status and Threats to the Future Welfare of Polar Bears.”

Steve has spent years studying Polar Bears in the Alaskan Arctic for the USGS. He’ll summarize what is known about the current status of Polar Bears throughout the Arctic.

Steve is one of a small number of scientists who have been closer to these magnificent creatures than almost anyone on the planet.

We couldn’t be more pleased to have him as our special guest star speaker on December 13th.
