October 20, 2018
meet at the Cuddy Pond parking lot just south of the
Loussac Library and north of Cuddy Pond
8:30 AM
Come watch waterfowl and other birds at hot spots around town before the lakes freeze.
Andrew Fisher will lead this outing to a number of good waterbird locations around town including Westchester Lagoon and Lake Hood.
Enjoy searching for the less usual waterbird species during this exciting time of year or just enjoy the typical species that are still with us. Bring binoculars and a scope if you have one and dress for the weather.
We will meet at the Cuddy Pond parking lot south of the Loussac Library and north of Cuddy Pond at 8:30 AM where we will go over plans for the day and consolidate into fewer cars by carpooling as much as possible.

Seward Birding Birding Trip
Meet in front of the Seward Harbormaster’s restrooms,
located at the south end of the small boat harbor.
June, 2016
with Aaron Bowman
The ferry schedule doesn’t come out until November but the cabins fill up very quickly so we are doing some preplanning now. We think it will cost about $550 for the ferry trip with a berth. Please note: this price is based on last year’s rate. The flight from Dutch to Anchorage is roughly $500, and we expect the cost of staying overnight in Dutch to be about $100/night (possibly 2 nights depending on the ferry schedule).

Aaron Bowman’s Big Year
by Aaron Bowman
at the BP Energy Center
7:00 PM
Our January program will finally present the December talk which was unfortunately cancelled due to an encounter with an unknown illness which got the better of our esteemed speaker.
But once again, Anchorage Audubon presents another fabulous birding talk, and this one will be a total treat to start your New Year! Aaron Bowman, Anchorage Audubon’s Field Trip Czar, has been on a year-long quest to do an Anchorage Big Year.
And now that it’s over, and Aaron will share his quest with us at this month’s meeting and program.
During 2014, Aaron scoured the Municipality and has found at least one “First Ever Anchorage Bird” which turned up on the foulest day of the year. Only Aaron would have even left the safety of his house on that day!
Aaron’s Big Year is a glimpse into what we can all find without leaving our own back yard, and it’s an evening you won’t want to miss.
And we wouldn’t even think about starting the New Year without cookies!
