Migration Madness Mid-West Style

By Andrew Fisher

Wed., Nov. 12;  6 pm;  BP Energy Center

This month’s presentation is a Spectacular Birding Extravaganza as Andrew Fisher takes us on a spring adventure to the southern shore of Lake Erie, Ohio. Last spring three Anchorage Audubon members experienced the fervor of one of North America’s greatest birding spectacles – the warbler migration at Magee Marsh.

Join us as we relive the trip through photos and stories from the boardwalk and beyond. We’ll share highlights from several nearby hotspots, talk about strategies for seeing the most species, and showcase some of the memorable birds we encountered – from brilliant Blackburnian and Prothonotary warblers to the less flashy Tennessee warblers and many in between.

Whether you’ve dreamed of visiting Magee Marsh or love the thrill of spring migration, this is a trip report you won’t want to miss. We will cover when to go, what to bring, where to stay, and how to navigate the other folks that’ll also be there. Get ready to see some species you might not see here any day in Alaska!

And of course, we won’t wait for Spring to feast on Cookies!  We hope to see you there.
